We accept transfer credit generously when it is earned legitimately. And we preserve a meaningful core of training at JBC so that every degree we confer reflects formation that genuinely happened here.

Who Can Request Transfer Credit & From Where

✓ New Students Applying for admission to JBC and bringing prior credit with you. Transfer Credit Evaluation Requests are submitted alongside your admissions application.

✓ Returning Students Who completed coursework elsewhere during an approved Leave of Absence. Submit the request when you return to JBC.

✓ Currently Enrolled Students Seeking credit for prior coursework that was not previously evaluated. Requests must be submitted by Week 2 of the current term.

All transfer credit requests must be submitted with proper documentation and the applicable evaluation fee. Credit will not be evaluated based on conversation, memory, or unofficial records.

Where Your Credit Can Come From

JBC recognizes the following sources of academic credit. The acceptance of credit from any source is always subject to course-by-course review and the standards outlined further down on this page.

Regionally Accredited Colleges & Universities: Accepted
Standard transcript review by the Registrar

Nationally Accredited Bible Colleges & Seminaries (ABHE, TRACS, ATS): Accepted
Standard transcript review by the Registrar

Recognized Non-Accredited Bible Colleges & Ministry Training Schools: Case by case
Course-by-course review by the Academic Review Committee; syllabi required

Denominational Ministry Training Programs & Certificate Schools: Case by case
Course-by-course review by the Academic Review Committee; documentation required

Portfolio Assessment of Prior Ministry Experience: Limited
Maximum of 15 credit hours; see Credit for Ministry Experience page

Credit from unaccredited sources is reviewed on its own merit, not dismissed because of its origin. We recognize that some of the most Spirit-led, biblically rich training in the Body of Christ is happening in schools that have intentionally remained outside traditional accreditation structures. Our standard is the quality of the learning, not the prestige of the source.

FAQs

Q&A 1: “What if I attended a Bible college that isn’t accredited?”

You are still welcome here. JBC accepts credit from recognized non-accredited Bible colleges and ministry training schools on a case-by-case basis. The review is more thorough — our Academic Review Committee evaluates the courses individually rather than accepting transcripts at face value — but unaccredited origin alone does not disqualify your work. We recognize that some of the most Spirit-led, biblically rich training in the Body of Christ is happening in schools that have intentionally remained outside traditional accreditation structures. Our standard is the quality of the learning, not the prestige of the source.

Q&A 2: “What if my courses were taught from a doctrinal position different from JBC?”

That depends on the specific positions. Minor doctrinal differences — eschatology, baptism mode, church polity, worship style — typically do not affect transfer credit. Major contradictions of core JBC convictions, however, do. Denial of biblical inerrancy, denial of the deity of Christ, cessationist positions on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and rejection of the biblical definition of marriage are examples of positions that may prevent transfer regardless of the grade earned. This is not a judgment on you. It is a stewardship of the JBC degree. You are still welcome to apply, enroll, and complete the JBC version of those courses as part of your training.

Q&A 3: “What if my older coursework predates the 10-year currency standard?”

Bible content courses generally remain valid indefinitely — the book of Romans does not change over a decade. Methodology courses (counseling, leadership, ministry practice) often require updated coursework or supplemental study because the contemporary application landscape has shifted more quickly than the underlying biblical truth. The Registrar will review your transcripts and identify which courses transfer cleanly and which require additional study.

Q&A 4: “Can JBC credit transfer to another institution if I leave or graduate and go elsewhere?”

This is governed by the receiving school, not by JBC. We are currently working toward a higher level of accreditation. Until that is granted, credit transferability to other institutions is at the receiving school’s discretion. We will provide official transcripts and supporting documentation to assist any transfer application — but we will never promise what only the other school can decide. If you are considering future transfer, verify acceptance with the receiving school before enrolling.

Q&A 5: “What if my transcripts are in another language?”

Submit a certified English translation along with the original transcript. The Registrar will not evaluate transcripts without a verified English translation. Any translation costs are the student’s responsibility.
